Frequently Asked Questions

Before making an appointment or sending an email, please review my FAQ to be sure you are familiar with my process. I look forward to working with you!

Where are you located and what is your availability?

I am located at Neat Tattoo in downtown Vancouver, Washhington, working Wednesday-Saturday with appointments generally beginning at noon and 3 pm.

I work by appointment and do not usually take walk ins, but sometimes they are available! Please call the shop at (360)314-4672.

Parking is metered near the shop.

What content are you interested in tattooing?

I primarily tattoo in a black and grey illustrative style. I rarely take on tattoos with only linework and no shading. I am excited to introduce more color into my work and am hoping to do more traditional inspired pieces.

I am not interested in tattooing:

  • Portraits/realism

  • Geometry

  • Watercolor

  • Religious iconography

  • other peoples’ artwork

  • Tiny tattoos

  • Back of the neck (as it causes me pain)

I am prioritizing medium-large scale work and flash designs. I enjoy nature and botanical prompts, science, fine details, American traditional, and am interested in your idea! I am focused on taking on projects that have shading and contrast, not only linework. If you would like to add a tiny tattoo on to your larger one’s appointment, I am happy to do that if there is time.

Coverups/reworks are on a case-by-case basis. Please submit a photo of the tattoo you already have. I take on these projects very selectively and rarely.

As much as I like creative freedom, I need my clients to give me details about what they want and like. I am not comfortable deciding on tattoos for you. I like to meet in the middle :)

What is your pricing?

Beginning January 2023, my custom hourly rate is $200/hour and my minimum is $200. Smaller flash designs are priced per piece rather than by hour. Price will vary depending on size and placement of the design. Large flash pieces such as back pieces or pieces that take 2+ sessions will be priced hourly.

Please let me know your budget in your proposal so that we can plan accordingly. I am a quick tattooer and my average tattoos range from 1-3 hours.

I require a $100 PayPal deposit to secure your appointment and it will be deducted from the price on the day of your appointment.

Aside from your deposit, I am CASH ONLY. Please be prepared.

When do you open your books?

My books are currently remaining open. I usually only schedule 2-3 months at a time. If I am not scheuduling your preferred month yet, please check back soon. I will keep my website and Instagram bio up to date.

I do not make appointments or schedule consults unless my books are open. My attention is on each cycle of current clients, but I would love to hear your idea when you submit a form.

You are also free to stop by the studio to have a chat and see if we are a good match.

When do you close your books?

Books close when I have received a maximum amount of submissions. At this time books are remaining open.

How do I make an appointment?

My booking form is posted in my Instagram bio and on the booking page of this website. Please follow the prompts closely and be as descriptive as possible regarding your design and availability, and include both reference and placement photos.

I am usually able to accommodate most requests if they are within my capability and if our schedules align.

I receive more custom requests than flash, so I do prioritize clients who submit for flash designs to keep my schedule balanced.

You must be at least 18 years old with valid government issued photo ID at the time of your appointment. I do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. In Oregon and Washington it is illegal to tattoo a minor.

What do I do after submitting a booking form?

Please allow up to 3 weeks for me to respond your request. If I accept your proposal I will communicate any additional questions or concerns and give you dates to choose from. I then require a $100 PayPal deposit to secure your appointment.

If we are emailing each other, please communicate through our original email thread, and do not create a new one. This is a much easier way to stay organized.

Can I schedule a matching tattoo with my friend?

If you are planning to get a matching tattoo, each client must fill out a form separately and make sure to mention their companion’s name in their booking form. If they are slightly different from each other please let me know. I can usually get you both scheduled on the same day as long as that is communicated!

Do you have a cancellation list?

I do not keep a cancellation list. When I have a cancellation, I will post the date and time onto my Instagram stories. When the availability is claimed, I will remove it from my story. In this scenario please send me an email with your design, placement, size, and budget. To stay up to date on announcements you can subscribe to my post notifications. Usually these openings are for flash designs only.

What’s the difference between a flash and custom tattoo?

Flash tattoos are pre-drawn designs I have available to choose from (available on Instagram), and custom designs are your ideas interpreted by me.

Some flash designs are one-offs, and others are repeatable. It will be specified on the flash piece. Smaller flash tattoos will be priced by the piece, and larger ones will be priced hourly. Custom tattoos are not repeatable and if you would like something similar to something you have seen in my portfolio, you will need to fill out a custom booking form.

Can I customize a flash tattoo?

Yes! If you like a piece but want to change it slightly, that is possible. Please let me know ahead of time.

Can I get multiple tattoos at once?

Yes, I usually book 3 hour appointments, and we can sometimes fit in multiple tattoos. Flash pieces are priced separately.

I love to work on sleeves and other ongoing projects and offer a select amount of full day sessions per booking cycle to fit in one large or several tattoos in one day.

Where can I view your flash designs?

Flash designs are available and updated on my Instagram highlights. Some are repeatable and others are not, and it will be indicated in the flash post. They will be removed once I feel they have been tattooed enough times.

Can I bring a guest?

Usually we can accommodate 1 guest. Our space at the shop is limited so it may depend on the day and how busy it is in the space.

Do you share the design before the appointment?

I keep working on your design usually up to the last moments. I always have time for us to make adjustments on the day of your appointment. If the design is completely reworked that will require a reschedule and a new deposit.

I only book clients who have done their research and know that I am the right artist for them. For custom tattoos I will take your idea and design it in my style. There is a special level of trust in that process. Thank you for your understanding.

Do you do touchups?

Touchups are free within a year if they are needed! Please send me an email with a photo so that I can gauge how much time we need.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give me at least 2 days notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Deposits are non-refundable but will be credited towards your reschedule for up to 6 months. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 2 days notice will need to place a new deposit. You are allowed one reschedule before requiring a new deposit.

In winter our roads can get dangerously icy. If you are traveling to our appointment and cannot safely make it, please let me know as soon as you can. This also applies to myself. There are no penalties for weather-related cancellations.

You will forfeit your deposit if you no-call/no-show, reschedule more than once, reschedule or cancel without 2 days notice, or arrive more than 20 minutes late without contacting me to let me know. Please send me an email or call the shop if you are caught in traffic/ will be arriving later than our scheduled time.

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine

  • Be sure to eat a good meal

  • Stay hydrated and moisturized on the days leading up to your tattoo

  • Do not get sunburned! If you have a sunburn or any other skin irritation I cannot tattoo you.

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting ink on and that is accessible to the body part you are getting tattooed. Pasties and a privacy shield are available at your request.

  • If possible, wear neutral toned, non-patterned clothing so that I can take a less distracting photo.

  • Bring water, snacks, or headphones if needed.

  • Although I am not against tattoo numbing cream, please let me know ahead of time if you plan to use it. Your tattoo may take longer to do. I generously apply Bactine (a lidocaine product) after the lines are finished to make the shading and color less painful. I have historically been told I have a light touch.:)
